Thanks for checking out Before You Press Submit for Round 16 of the Fantasy A-League season.

Here is a list of news you need to know before you press submit to your lineup this week:

Bye Week.

Western Sydney Wanderers

Injuries.

James Donachie (Melbourne Victory)

Not an injury, but Donachie will miss the Sydney game through suspension as he collected his 5th yellow card last week.

Juande (Perth Glory)

The Spanish midfielder missed last week through a groin strain and wasn’t able to make it this week either. Should open up more minutes for Jame Brimmer.

Alessandro Diamanti (Western United)

Diamanti is listed in the squad this week but he limped off last week with a leg injury.

As per Western Uniteds policy, they have given absolutely no update on him throughout the year as they hate telling their fans anything.

Louis Fenton (Wellington Phoenix)

Fenton has been officially ruled out for the season after opting for shoulder surgery.

Tim Hoogland (Melbourne Victory)

Hoogland has been sidelined with the quad injury after Melbourne Victory rushed him back.

Osama Malik (Perth Glory)

Malik will miss his 9th game with that hamstring injury. He’s listed as another week away as he has been for 10 weeks by Perth Glory.

Glen Moss (Newcastle Jets)

To cap off a torrid season, Mossy tore his calf taking a goal kick. He’s out for 4-6 weeks.

Alex Meier (Western Sydney Wanderers)

The Meier experiment has failed and Western Sydney have mutually terminated his contract. Great boost for Nicolai Muller.

Alex Rufer (Wellington Phoenix)

Despite being listed in the squad a couple of times, Rufer is still on the injury list with his knee problem. Devlin has been huge in his absence and has arguably surpassed him in the pecking order.

Kristijan Dobras (Melbourne Victory)

Officially given his marching orders this week, Dobras is no longer in the league.

Returns.

Ola Toivonen (Melbourne Victory)

Toivonen returned midweek via the bench in Victorys ACL qualification win and looks good to go vs Sydney this week.

Markel Susaeta (Melbourne City)

He did play last week, but this week he is actually available for selection in Sportsdeck Fantasy A-League.

He has been listed as a forward, so its worth monitoring where he is being played. If he lines up in a midfield role he might be tough to rely on for goals in Fantasy A-League.

Marco Rojas (Melbourne Victory)

Rojas signed with the Victory late in the week so its hard to know what role he will play. He has been named in the squad, but likely to be on the bench.

He has been added to Sportsdeck Fantasy A-League as a midfielder which makes him an enticing option.

Rhyan Grant (Sydney FC)

Grant has returned from his 4 week red card suspension that was reduced to 3 weeks because ‘he’s a good bloke’.

He will take Harry Van Der Saags role.

Luke Brattan (Sydney FC)

Brattan also returns for Sydney to take on the undermanned Victory. He should slot into Paulo Retres role.

Scott Galloway (Melbourne City)

Gallo was only out for 1 week with his groin complaint, but will likely be on the bench in favour of Nathaniel Atkinson and Scott Jamieson.

Samuel Silvera (Central Coast Mariners)

The young Mariners star was out for personal reasons last week but returns to a favourable matchup against the Brisbane Roar.

James Troisi (Adelaide United)

Troisi is staying put for now and is back from his hamstring injury. Adelaide might need George Blackwood up front this week so Troisi should take his midfield role.

Tom Aldred (Brisbane Roar)

The Brisbane Roar captain served his 1 week suspension and will return to the heart of defence this week.

Nigel Boogard (Newcastle Jets)

Boogard has been sidelined for a while through injury but returns to the squad this week, he’s not a Fantasy A-League play.

Captains Choice

Ulises Davila (Wellington Phoenix)

Whilst Newcastle have been defensively better under Craig Deans compared to Ernie Merrick, they still face a really tough matchup against the Phoenix over in New Zealand.

I predict a Phoenix win and wouldn’t begrudge you choosing Gary Hooper either.

Sydney FC face Melbourne Victory who have three central defenders all out and a makeshift defence, so any of Le Fondre, Kosta or Ninkovic would be an option too.

My Team.
