Fantasy A-League Preview: 2021 Season – Week 1

Thanks for checking out Fantasy A-League preview for Round 1 of the brand new 2021 A-League season.

Who tf is that?

This season is sure to come with the standard COVID effected weirdness, with Bye Rounds and stacked fixtures but from a Fantasy Sports perspective that is actually nothing new when it comes to Fantasy A-League and using it to your advantage is one of the biggest edges you can get.

This will be updated as the squads come out, so far it is only for the first fixture.

Here is a list of news you need to know before you press submit to your lineup this week:

Bye Week.

Sydney FC

Wellington Phoenix

Injuries

Al Hassan-Toure (Adelaide United)

The hugely talented Adelaide youngster is still out with an ankle injury sustained in training, so keep him out of your teams for now.

At $165k he should be on your radar when he returns.

Ryan Kitto (Adelaide United)

Kitto has been confirmed as out with a groin injury.

Status is indefinite at the moment for the Reds.

Josh Risdon (Western United)

Risdons injury was sustained in August last season but ‘complications’ have ruled him out for atleast the first 8 weeks of the A-League season.

Western United kept this super quiet, not releasing the news until a day before the season.

At $265k, you can forget about him completely.

Western United are notoriously bad at injury news, which can make certain players hard to roster.

Seb Pasquali (Western United)

Another from left field, Pasquali has been named as out for 6 weeks with a hip injury.

His Western United career has not exactly set the world alight so far.

Max Burgess (Western United)

Burgess has been named ‘unavailable’. Which is just incredible amount of detail for a professional sporting club to give their fans.

Chances are he’d bolted to NSW hoping to get a contract there but WU played hardball and he has returned.

For now, $288k is a big no.

Robbie Kruse (Melbourne Victory)

Kruse has been confirmed to be out but hoping to be back a ‘couple of weeks’ into the season.

Hes talented but made of glass. You know the drill.

Returns

Nathan Konstandopoulos (Adelaide United)

While unlikely to start for the Reds, its so great to see Konstandopoulos back in the squad after an ACL injury halted his impressive 2020 A-League season.

If he can get back into the Starting XI, at $173k he’ll be an absolute steal.

Tomi Juric (Adelaide United)

Not an injury as such, but Juric is back in the A-League this time with Adelaide.

Whilst Juric will get all the minutes and focus he can handle from the coaching staff, he has never been a prolific MacLaren/Berisha type striker in the A-League.

At $198k he is affordable though.

James Delianov (Adelaide United)

Most noted as its just been announced the young Adelaide United goalkeeper will make his starting debut vs Western United.

Now he might be as shit as Josep Gombaus son but he is starting with a decent defence and is $113k. A must have in my opinion.

Captains Choice

Has to be JMac. Costs an absolute bomb but he will literally win you rounds as Captain even if you have 4 zeros.

Especially this week as the talented Sydney, Perth, Wellington and Victory players are on Byes.

My Team.
